Over a period of three years, the small peasants of a remote village in the center of France gradually loose their land to a reallotment process, thereby also losing everything that connects them to the place, the history of the land, their work, livestock and family. All in all: their sense of self, their identity. - The film traces their resistance to the process and their eventual submission to forces above their range of action.
