Associate Professor Anja Simonsen is in collaboration with CreativeMinds Cph and Somaliland Kvindeforening inviting everyone to Cinemateket for a film screening, book launch of her new book, debate and Q&A.

The purpose of the event is to discuss what drives people to risk their lives by fleeing to other countries, what happens to them along the way, and how it affects us all globally and locally if/when they arrive.



PROGRAMME FOR 1 OF SEPTEMBER 2023

6:30-7:00 pm in Asta Bar: Welcome by CreativeMindsCph & Somaliland Kvindeforening followed by a book launch and dialogue about the book Tahriib: Journey’s into the Unknown. An Ethnography of Uncertainty in Migration by migrationresearcher Anja Simonsen.
Free entrance, no seatreservation.

7:00-21:00 pm in Cinemateket’s cinema: Screening of the movie ‘The Gravedigger’s Wife’ with a short introduction and conversation between movie director Khadar Ayderus Ahmed himself a refugee from Somalia and migration researcher Nataliia Varha herself a refugee from Ukraine currently residing in Denmark, and a representative for the Somaliland Women's Association.
Price for tickets: 90/60kr.

21:10-21:30 pm in Asta Bar: Talk with migration researcher and book author Anja Simonsen and Rabia Sheikh Omar, a social worker with many years of experience working in practice with ‘integration’, herself a refugee from Somaliland.

21:30-22:30 pm in Asta Bar: Hygge with Somali snacks and an oppertunity to continue the dialouge.
