Solidarity at a distance: Denmark’s migration-development nexus in policy and practice

Associate Professor Anja Simonsen has, together with Jesper Bjarnesen, the Nordic Africa Institute, Uppsala and Frowin Rausis, postdoc, University of Geneva, published the chapter “Solidarity at a distance: Denmark’s migration-development nexus in policy and practice” in which they explore Denmark’s use of aid in migration policies.

The chapter is part of a larger anthology which analyses how migration policy objectives have been integrated into development cooperation in a selection of European countries, focusing on Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany, and Norway. Through a comparative analysis of policies, governance, and implementation, it examines how aid is used to address irregular migration and facilitate return, reintegration, and migration partnerships with third countries.
