September 21, 2015: Public lecture: Prof. Yuval Noah Harari, Dept. of History, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, presented the paper “The Humanist Revolution and the Authority of Experience”, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Copenhagen.
August 21, 2015: Public lecture by Dr. Seth Messinger, Research Director, The Center for Rehabilitation Sciences Research, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences: “Life After Limb-Loss: Looking Back at Experiences of Rehabilitation in the US Armed Forces Amputee Patient Care Program”. Dr. Messinger has carried out extensive ethnographic research on injured American soldiers, and their recovery and rehabilitation processes.
January 30, 2015: Workshop on Changing Military Bodies with Dr. Paul Higate, University of Bristol organized in collaboration with the Royal Danish Defense College. Dr. Higate has done research on the gendered culture of military and militarised masculinities in the contexts of the transition of military personnel to civilian life, United Nations Peacekeeping and private security contractors.

September 2014: The project has established a study group on "War Bodies" at the Department of Anthropology with students and candidates who share an active interest in this topic.
June 2014: The Soldier and Society research group has initiated a network Krydsfelt [Intersection], consisting of anthropologists in Denmark, who work for, with or on the armed forces. The network provides a platform for critical discussions and development of ‘embedded anthropology’, ‘anthropology of the military’, ‘applied anthropology in the military’. Interested anthropologists with a relevant background can contact Birgitte Refslund Sørensen to join the network (brs@anthro.ku.dk).
