“Soldier, Security, Society” panel at EASA conference, August 2014.

- “Soldier, security, society: ethnographies of civil-military entanglements”.

Short abstract: How are boundaries and relations between military and civilian worlds redrawn today? On the basis of ethnographies of soldiers’ and other security providers’ engagements in situations of war or situations other than war, we explore theoretical approaches to contemporary security arenas and actors. The panel was co-convened by Birgitte Refslund Sørensen, Mads Daugbjerg and Dr. Sabine Mannitz from the Peace Research Institute, Frankfurt.

At the panel, Thomas Pedersen presented the paper: “M*E*S*H: civil-military entanglements among Danish ISAF troops”
