Designing Community Collaboration for Sustainable Energy Parks (DEEP)
The objective of the DEEP project is to investigate land use conflicts in the context of the green transition in Denmark.
As Denmark navigates its path towards sustainable futures, a series of "green-on-green conflicts" have emerged among environmental and sustainability stakeholders. These conflicts intersect with contrasting interests in climate action, natural preservation, landscape management, wildlife protection, and local cultural ecosystems. However, this divide has recently been challenged by emerging alliances between environmental movements and energy companies, which plan for multifunctional areas to host renewable energy facilities, forest rejuvenation, groundwater conservation, and wildlife habitats.
By examining the planning and establishment of such multifunctional parks, the project seeks to achieve two primary objectives: mapping and analyzing existing green-on-green conflicts and exploring innovative partnerships to facilitate the development of multifunctional parks that blend recreational spaces, environmental protection measures, biodiversity conservation efforts, and renewable energy installations.
The DEEP project is collaborating with Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable Energy and Aalborg University, Department of Communication and Psychology.
The DEEP project is also part of the broader partnership MissionGreenFuels, where researchers, companies and organisations contribute to the green energy transition.
Publications from the DEEP project are in preparation.
