I do research at the intersection of computer science and anthropology of technology. I study how norms and values encoded in digital and physical spaces shape opportunities and barriers for equity and accessibility - particularly in computing education organizations and public sector institutions.
I am interested in how differences of gender, race, nationality and sexuality shape access and equitable outcomes in socio-technical systems.
My main research interests are:
- The social dimensions of accessibility
- Inclusive design
- Digital inclusion
- Intersectional/queer HCI and CSCW
- Experimental and playful approaches to qualitative research.
If you are student interested in any of the above and need help with supervision of projects or thesis, just write me an email.
You can find more information about previous projects I worked on here: https://www.valeriaborsotti.com/
I am a member of the Bevica Foundation Universal Design Hub and of the EASA Applied Anthropology Network.
My PhD advisor is Professor Pernille Bjørn and my research is part of the Femtech.dk program.
